Coca-Colai, one of the official sponsors of the World Cup, is bringing the trophy to Bangladesh. The initiative is being supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Bangladesh and the Bangladesh Football Federation. Not only the trophy, but also the former star footballer of France World Cup winner Christian Carembu will come to Bangladesh.
Hosts France won the 1998 World Cup. Karembu played as a defensive midfielder in that team. The midfielder, who played 53 matches in France's jersey, has been reported to be in Bangladesh by BFF.
Abu Naim, general secretary of the country's highest football body, said: "The trophy will arrive in Dhaka on the morning of June 7. The trophy will be taken to Bangabhaban on that day. After that it will be taken at the Prime Minister's residence Ganobhaban.
The trophy will be on display at the Army Stadium the next day for a limited number of football fans. According to FIFA, French footballer Christian Carrembo will also come to Bangladesh with the trophy. Karembu is currently the sports director of the Olympiakos Club in France.
The last World Cup trophy came to Dhaka in 2013. When the trophy was kept for display in a five star hotel, there was an arrangement to take pictures including showing the trophy. This time too, there is an arrangement for the selected spectators.
