Teofimo ‘The Takeover’ Lopez will make his super-lightweight debut this weekend when he takes on veteran Mexican slugger Pedro Campa (34-1-1) in Vegas.
The former unified and lineal lightweight champion’s shock defeat to Kambosos Jr in November 2021 topped ESPN’s 2021 Upset of the Year table.
Lopez had previously pulled off a shock success of his own, with a resounding 12-round decision over Vasiliy Lomachenko making him, at 23, the youngest four-belt title holder in boxing history.
After some time off following the Kambosos Jr loss, the 25-year-old Lopez has moved up a weight division to face Campa, a 30-year-old puncher who is unbeaten in eight fights.
Campa dispatched compatriot Carlos Sanchez Valadez inside just three rounds in March in Ciudad Juarez.
Top Rank's undefeated super featherweight Andres ‘Savage’ Cortes, squares off against Abraham Montoya in the pick of the undercard. Rising star Cortes is riding an impressive three-fight knockout streak.
Lopez vs Campa will take place on Saturday, August 13 at the Resorts World Event Center in Vegas.
Sky Sports Action. The broadcast begins at 1am (Sunday) UK time with the ringwalks for the main event expected at approximately 4am, although this could change depending on the length of the undercard.

Teofima Lopez:
“I’ve been looking forward to this since my last fight. I’ve had a lot of complications, but we’re looking towards the future and are on to bigger and better things. I’m here to take over the 140-pound division just like I did at 135. Like always, I’m going to bring excitement to the sport of boxing.
“I am calling this fight the 'Take Back' because I am coming to regain what I’ve lost. One defeat does not define a fighter, and it won’t define me.
"My best years are in front of me. Pedro Campa is the start of a new chapter in my career. I will be a two-weight world champion very soon. Every contender and champion at junior welterweight better watch out because I am coming to clean out the division.”
Pedro Campa:
“I am excited and thankful to Top Rank and Teofimo Lopez for this opportunity. He is a tremendous fighter. I am coming ready to implement everything I have learned with my incredible trainer, Manny Robles. We’ve been in Southern California working hard and preparing for the best version of Teofimo Lopez. I believe I can be a force at 140lbs, and it’s up to me to show that.”
